Law of Attraction Coaching
by Diane Linsley

As a certified life coach, I often use Law of Attraction processes to
help people find creative solutions to their problems.

How do you find a needle in a haystack? With a very large magnet.
You are that magnet, and your vibration is the magnetic force that
attracts objects, people and experiences into your life.

What if you were aware of how you attract these things? What if you could consciously choose what you attract? Best of all, what if you could be assured that there is no such thing as failure? There are only two possible outcomes - either success or a learning experience.

How Law of Attraction Works

The basic premise of Law of Attraction is that you attract what you focus on. You attract people, things and situations into your life with your "vibration," which includes your emotional state.

The first step in attracting anything is to get clear on exactly what you want. What do you really want? Describe it in detail. If you are ambivalent about what you want, there are some fun Law of Attraction processes that can help you gain clarity.

The next step is to fine-tune your vibration to match the vibration of the thing you are trying to attract. If you are trying to attract a loving, supportive partner, you need to be a loving, supportive person yourself. If you are trying to attract happy, fun-loving friends....well, you know what I'm going to say.

Your emotions are more powerful than your thoughts when it comes to your point of attraction. The most challenging aspect of Law of Attraction is learning how to handle your emotions. Fortunately, you can use your thoughts to change your emotions.

The best way to raise your vibration is by changing your focus to something that makes you feel good when you think about it. Remember, you get what you focus on.

This isn't because of magic. It's because when you focus on a goal, keeping it in the forefront of your mind, you are more likely to take action to achieve the goal than you would if you were paralyzed by fear. This is why negative emotions are often our biggest blocks to success.

If you are fearful about something, you may end up attracting the very thing that you fear because you are in a state of hypervigilance, always on the lookout for what you fear. You focus on what you fear, and that becomes your point of attraction. The fear needs to be dealt with appropriately - not just ignored or repressed - before you can attract what you want.

This can be distressing to realize in the beginning. "You mean, I've been attracting what I don't want all my life by focusing on it?" Yep. But the good news is, you are the one who is in control of your own point of attraction, and you can change it. It just takes training and practice.

I spent a whole year in the Quantum Success Coaching Academy learning how to do this. The processes that I learned changed my life.

Emotions and Law of Attraction

Law of Attraction processes are good for helping people focus on their goals with a positive mindset. But here's where I go beyond Law of Attraction. Once a person is clear about what they want, they need an action plan.

Unlike some Law of Attraction coaches, I don't claim that all you have to do is sit around visualizing what you want and feeling good about it. I'm a rational, goal-oriented person, and I love helping people make action plans for achieving their goals.

Emotions motivate our actions, but they don't solely determine what we get in life. Rather than trying to force ourselves to feel good, it's better to get to the bottom of what's causing the negative feelings and deal with it.

You don't need to be afraid of emotions. Feeling sad, angry or fearful once in while is not going to make bad stuff happen to you. That's magical thinking.

Emotions often have hidden messages for us. Deciphering the message requires looking deeply into the emotion, not disowning it or trying to change it.

Once you have worked through an emotion, your vibration naturally rises like a cork that has been released, popping to the surface of the water. We call this "moving up the emotional scale."

Studies show that there are benefits to feeling negative emotions after a setback. Bouncing back quickly isn't all it's cracked up to be. Grieving over failures actually increases our chances of succeeding in the future. Grieving is only a problem when we get stuck in it for longer than is resourceful.

As my teacher Bill Harris says, "Once you have the learnings, you no longer need the emotions. The emotions are just there to point you to the learnings."

The Truth About Law of Attraction

Before you assume that Law of Attraction will automatically bring you everything that your ego desires, check out this video by JP Sears. I love it when people tell the truth about Law of Attraction :)

I've spent a lot of time working with Law of Attraction processes, so I understand the benefits and limitations. I know that, in the end, I must defer to the wisdom of my higher self. It's my higher self, not my ego, who is ultimately in charge of my life.

I believe that the biggest problem in the New Age movement is the emphasis on thinking positive and being confident instead of working hard and being competent. If you needed surgery, would you prefer a smiling, confident doctor who didn't have good medical training or a shy, self-doubting doctor who had superior training? Think hard before you answer....

Studies show that fatal mistakes are more often made by confident people who overestimate their own skills. Self-doubt is good when it leads us to be careful and double-check our work. There's no quick and easy road to success.

I said at the beginning that there are only two possible outcomes when you set out to attract something. You will either succeed, or you will have a learning experience. Yes, it's often a learning experience. But that's what we're here for.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could make the learning process more conscious? That's the real gift in Law of Attraction. The more awareness you have, the more freedom you have.

Practicing Law of Attraction raises your level of emotional intelligence. The more you practice, the more joyful you become. Isn't that what we really want out of life? For more tips on raising your vibration, read Creating Joy.
